Eid al-Fitr Statement from United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney
Falling on the first day of the month of Shawwal on the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Fitr is an important holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the start of a feast that lasts up to three days.
Known as the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast, Eid al-Fitr is a time marked by special congregational prayers, charity and gift-giving. It is also time of great joy and celebration during which Muslims visit family and friends and gather for festive meals.
As Leader of the United Conservatives, I encourage all Canadians to reflect on the many contributions that Alberta Muslims have made to our country, and I extend my best wishes for a happy and peaceful Eid al-Fitr to all Canadian Muslims.
