Jean statement on Remembrance Day

Today Wildrose Leader Brian Jean released the following statement to mark Remembrance Day:

“On this solemn day, we pause to remember the sacrifices of those Canadians who have given so much in the name of peace, freedom, and the rule of law.

“This year in particular, we mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, where more than 24,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or went missing, and Beaumont-Hamel, a devastating battle for Newfoundland, where only 68 of the more than 800 men who had taken part were able to answer the roll call the following morning.

“We also use this time to thank the men and women who continue to wear the uniform with pride, and who put their lives on the line each and every day to protect our safety and freedom.

“Today, as we do every year on November 11, we will honour the fallen, revere the brave, and thank all members of the Canadian Armed Forces for their service. Lest we forget.”
