Dave Rodney is the MLA for Calgary-Lougheed and was elected to his fourth term on May 5, 2015. He is one of the longest-serving MLAs in Alberta.

Dave is the Opposition Critic for the portfolios of Aboriginal Relations, Innovation and Advanced Education.
He previously served as Associate Minister of Health and Wellness, and was a member of Treasury Board and Planning and Priorities Cabinet Committee.

Dave has also held many other positions, including chairing the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices, Standing Committee on Community Services, the Calgary Caucus, and the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission.

During his time as MLA, Dave successfully sponsored numerous bills, many of which reflect his passion for wellness. These pieces of legislation include the Smoke-free Places Act, Hotel Room Tax (Tourism Levy) Amendment Act, Health Statutes Act, and the Physical Activity Credit (which is awaiting proclamation), and Alberta Get Outdoors Weekend Act.
Prior to entering public life, Dave scaled Mount Everest twice – the first Canadian to have done so. He is an international keynote speaker and has earned three degrees, including a master’s degree. He has enjoyed careers in business, education and the non-profit sector.

Dave is a dedicated family man who is raising two young boys with his wife Jennifer. Together they are also co-founders of the Top of the World Society for Children.
