UCP Critic for Environment & Parks
Todd Loewen was elected to the Alberta Legislature on May 05, 2015 in the constituency of Grande Prairie – Smoky.
Todd moved to Grande Prairie with his family in 1967. In 1971, they moved to a homestead in the Valleyview area, fulfilling his father’s dream of homesteading in the Peace Country. At the time of this move, they lived in a tent, but soon graduated to a 12’X12’ granary. Though housing has improved considerably since then, his parents, Paul and Verna, still reside on that homestead.
From these humble beginnings, Todd learned the value of hard work and commitment and has applied these attributes to any projects that he has become involved in. Growing up on a farm also gave him an appreciation of nature and wildlife.
Todd graduated from Hillside High School in Valleyview and after 5 years in the work force, started his own business and bought a farm. Since then, Todd has been self-employed and still owns his small business and farm at this time.
Todd enjoys spending time with his wife of 22 years, Teena, and his 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Todd’s oldest son, Travis is a high school teacher in Valleyview and is married to Candace, and they have twin sons. Todd’s 2nd oldest son Ty, is attending college. His youngest 3, Taylor, Tianna, and Tenea are at home and attend high school.
Todd has been actively involved in politics since the provincial election in 2008. Todd understands the residents of this constituency. He has been both an employee and an employer. He started his own business that has grown and developed with the changing times and economy. Todd’s family, like most families, is involved in many activities within the community. Todd is involved in Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Church, business organizations, politics, and other community activities. Todd’s 45+ years living in the Grande Prairie-Smoky Constituency, along with his commitment, family values, and work ethic, qualifies
