Statement by UCP Interim Leader on Yom Kippur

Nathan Cooper, Interim Leader of the United Conservative Party, issued the following statement on the occasion of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar:

“On behalf of United Conservatives across Alberta, I want to wish those of the Jewish faith a meaningful fast as they mark the beginning of Yom Kippur at sundown tonight.

“Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is an important time for Jewish people around the world to spend in a period of reflection and self-awareness as well as in prayer and by fasting.

“Important days in the Jewish calendar like Yom Kippur allow all Albertans to reflect and recognize the contributions that those in the Jewish community have made to build and help our province become what it is today.

“United Conservatives stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends in the Jewish community across Alberta and will always do so.

“G’mar Chatimah Tovah.”
