UCP caucus statement on the anniversary of 9/11
United Conservative Party Interim Leader Nathan Cooper today released the following statement recognizing the anniversary of September 11, 2001:
“On this solemn day, we reflect on the terrorist actions of September 11, 2001, which claimed the lives of 3,000 innocent people including 24 Canadians.
“As we mark the anniversary of this tragedy each year, there is also the opportunity to reflect on the enduring values of democracy and freedom which stand in stark contrast to the fear and division those who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks hoped to sow.
“Today is also an opportunity to remember the first responders, including firefighters, who answered the call of duty on September 11, and to thank the first responders who serve so selflessly in Alberta.
“On behalf of the UCP caucus, we pause to reflect on the lives so senselessly lost, and commit to upholding the ideals of unity, community and goodwill.”
