United Conservative Party Interim Leader Nathan Cooper and Caucus Chair Prasad Panda today released the following statement regarding the Hindu festival Ganesh Chaturthi:
“Every year, between August and September, Hindus from across Alberta gather together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival dedicated to the God Ganesha.
“As the newly formed United Conservative Party caucus, it is important that we acknowledge and respect the many different cultural practices observed in this province.
“Alberta must be a place for inclusion and tolerance, and celebrating our diverse communities is a good step forward in ensuring that.
“The Hindu community has made many great contributions in their communities and continually work to make the province of Alberta better.
“The United Conservative Party caucus would like to extend wishes of peace, happiness and prosperity to all those observing Ganesh Chaturthi.”
