United Conservatives mark Remembrance Day
Leader of the United Conservative Official Opposition, Jason Nixon, has issued the following statement to mark Remembrance Day:
“Each year, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, we pause to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and in defence of our freedom. From the fields of Passchendaele and the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, generations of Canadian soldiers have laid down their lives so that we could live ours in peace.
“It is with deep and humble gratitude that each year, we wear the poppy to remember their sacrifice and thank them for their service.
“November 11th is also a time to express our thanks to the men and women currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. We are incredibly fortunate to have so many exceptional Canadians working at home and across the globe in service of peace, security, freedom and Canadian values.
“On behalf of UCP Leader Jason Kenney and all my United Conservative colleagues in the Legislative Assembly, I express our deepest thanks to both veterans and active service members for their sacrifices. Lest We Forget.”
