United Conservatives recognize Pakistan Independence Day

United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney has issued the following statement in recognition of Pakistan Independence Day:

“Today, millions of people of Pakistani descent celebrate the day on which Pakistan was declared a sovereign nation in 1947.

“Canada’s Pakistani community will celebrate this day by attending flag raising-ceremonies, parade’s, and other cultural events from coast to coast.

“During my time as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, I was delighted to welcome hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Pakistan, many of whom have chosen to put down roots in this province. I have also had the opportunity to visit Pakistan on three occasions.

“Alberta enjoys a strong relationship with Pakistan, as many members of this community continue to enrich our province with their skills, knowledge, and talent, making significant contributions to our economy and diverse society.

“As Leader of the United Conservative Party, I extend my best wishes for a happy and festive Pakistan Independence Day.”
